Jim maintains studios in New York City, Catskill, New York and Manchester, Washington. Jim is a Professor of Art, directing the Graphic Design Program at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City.

Holl exhibited and had a studio at P.S.1, and exhibited a solo show at the New Museum, where he served on the museum’s artist advisory board. He has shown at important alternative spaces such as Artist’s Space and 55 Mercer.

Holl participated in the seminal 1980 Times Square Show and Creative Time’s Art on the Beach.
